Mrs. Deborah Stringfellow

My class theme is “Camping” because I was born on Camp Rucker, now known as Fort Rucker, in southeast Alabama. My father was military, so we frequently moved. In my classroom, I want students to know that no matter how long they are part of our “campground”, each day matters, they are loved and valued, and learning should be an “adventure”.   I spent my middle school years in Germany and then we moved to Virginia. Then we returned to Daleville, Alabama when I was in tenth grade. I graduated from Daleville High School. I spent the first 17 years of my teaching career in Daleville Schools teaching first, third, fourth grade in addition to pull-out special education. Both my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and my Masters Degree in Special Education were completed at Troy University. I completed National Board Certification the first time in 2001 while teaching first grade in Daleville. In 2003, my family moved to Snellville, Georgia. In Georgia I completed my Education Specialists Degree in Educational Leadership. Then I redid my National Board in 2011 and completed Gifted Certification. I spent eleven years teaching seventh grade Gifted Life Science and Language Arts at Alton C. Crew Middle School in Gwinnett County. The next four years, I was an elementary school assistant principal at Britt Elementary. During my last three years in Georgia, I taught fourth grade gifted science, math, and language arts.

We just moved to Prattville in May. My 86-year-old father lives with me along with my fabulous husband of 41 years! My oldest son and only grandchild live here. I also have two other wonderful children. My other son lives in Charleston, SC and my daughter lives in New York City. I have raised several foster children. One of my foster daughters lives in Birmingham.
